Jeremy Penn Joins Montauk Beach House as Artist in Residence Summer 2015 in Montauk, New York.
Montauk, New York (May 2015) – New York-based modern artist, Jeremy Penn will be partnering up with The Montauk Beach House this coming Summer as its residence artist on the hotel’s property starting from Mid-May through the end of July. The Montauk Beach House is situated in the heart of downtown Montauk and as has decided to bring on an artistic addition to its property this coming summer season. Jeremy Penn’s artistry fits the very eclectic mix of European style and relaxed beach vibe of the Beach House.
Penn’s work will be inspired by the natural aesthetic elements found around Montauk; such as the ocean washing up on the sand, magenta sunsets and the reflection of the sun glimmering off the ocean surface by using a glass glitter applique. “We decided to start with Jeremy Penn as our first Artist to have a residence on our property -- Penn’s work has a beautiful blend of urban attitude with artist expression,” says Director of Programming, Michelle Swavely, “We were drawn to his concept of creating work that reflects his interpretation of Montauk and are honored to host him this summer,” Swavely goes onto explain.
To capture the very aesthetic that Penn is going for, he has decided to craft his own paint that he poured down the painting surface to seize the organic flow of the ocean washing up on the sand. “The time of the framed and faded landscape prints in hotel lobbies is over, it’s time to make these walls pop!” says Penn. This new series, aptly titled “le séduction de glamour” will encompass new pieces from his ever-so-adored “Hot Lips” series which features the famous fashion icon, Brigitte Bardot as his subject along with a few surprise modern icons from the Fashion world.
